This is an entry level position under the general supervision of the Streets and Stormwater Superintendent. This position is a labor position performing street repair, patching, overlay, snow removal, shoveling and using light equipment.
Work schedule is primarily Monday – Friday 6:30 am – 2:30 pm with the availability to respond to weather related emergency.

- Performs work of a laboring nature including but not limited to frequent lifting, shoveling, operating light equipment and manual labor.
- Performs duties associated with snow removal, by plowing streets, alleys and parking lots using light equipment.
- Performs duties associated with street maintenance including sweeping, patching, overlaying, curb repair, catch basin repair and storm sewer repair.
- Performs duties associated with street maintenance including sweeping, patching, overlaying, curb repair, catch basin repair, storm sewer repair. Operates vehicles, requiring a valid class B driver’s license including tanker and air brake endorsements
- Follows oral and written instructions such as supervisor’s work orders and equipment operation manuals.
- Provides effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers.
- Regular and reliable attendance during scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
- Maintains positive professional working relationships with all staff levels, other jurisdictions and outside agencies, and the general public.
- Performs other related functions as apparent or delegated.

- Thorough practical knowledge of principles, practices and methods including tools and equipment used in street maintenance.

EQUIPMENT/JOB LOCATION:

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Minnesota Class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brake and tanker endorsements or ability to obtain within six months of hire; satisfactory driving record – must meet Federal D.O.T. regulations.
- 1 year previous experience with streets maintenance, road or general construction, and/or operating light equipment.
- Must be available to work overtime, shift changes, emergency call-outs or to be on call as necessary or assigned.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Previous snow removal experience requiring a commercial driver’s license,
- Previous asphalt or concrete experience.
- Possess a Class A driver’s license
