What are the responsibilities and job description for the City of Davenport Youth Corps - Program Development Specialist position at City of Davenport AmeriCorps?
*This is a temporary Youth Corps position through the City of Davenport AmeriCorps / Youth Corps Program*
Position Information:
Living Stipend: $3,700
Education Award: $1,565.08
Service Term Dates: May 21, 2025 - August 9, 2025
Age Requirement: 17 - 21 years old
Position Specifics:
1) Adhere to predetermined schedule of personal development sessions and activities
· Attend 12 personal development sessions scheduled weekly throughout service term, including topics: goal setting, research skills, financial literacy, teamwork & networking, job performance, resume building, LinkedIn & professional branding, interviewing, giving & receiving feedback, work-life balance, public speaking, presentation skills
· Actively participate in trainings and projects, including answering questions, completing worksheets and other materials, sharing with the group when prompted, and participating in group activities and discussions
2) Attend all AmeriCorps site visits scheduled throughout service term
· All site visits will be scheduled within the first few weeks of service
· Actively participate in group discussions and site tours
· Take notes about the information from the site visits to apply to Site Service Plan development
3) Complete predetermined group service projects scheduled throughout service term
· Actively participate in group service projects at locations including: King’s Harvest Homeless Shelter, Davenport Parks and Recreation, Davenport Public Library, Hope at the Brick House, King’s Harvest Animal Shelter, City of Davenport, Davenport YWCA, CASI Center for Active Seniors, Project Renewal, and Roosevelt Community Center
· Attend service location orientations, as needed and required, to learn expectations and duties of each service project
· Arrive to group service project sites on time and leave when dismissed from service
4) Develop a Site Service Plan final project in predetermined groups of 2
· Actively participate when in the group setting to create and complete the final project
· Select an AmeriCorps site based on information provided at the site visits
· Create a Site Service Plan based on rubric provided at beginning of service term
· Submit Site Service Plan to site supervisor during the week of August 3, 2025
· Create a group presentation relaying the information of the Site Service Plan and present it to the rest of the Youth Corps cohort during the week of August 3, 2025
5) Create and submit Reflection Project individually
· Attend service time set aside to work on reflection project
· Create a project in one of the following forms: presentation, video, essay (at least 3 pages), poster, collage, PowerPoint, etc.
· Address the following 5 Key Elements in the service project:
1. What did you accomplish during your service?
2. What did you enjoy the most during your service?
3. What would you change about your service?
4. What impact did you have on your community during your service?
5. What are your future goals and how did your service help you reach them?
· Submit completed project to site supervisor on or before August 9, 2025
Desired Skills/Qualifications:
· Background can be in any field
Eligibility Criteria:
· Be 17 -21 years old at the start of service
· Pass a national service criminal history check prior to first day of service
· Hold one of the following citizenship statuses: US citizen, US national, or Lawful Permanent Resident
