What are the responsibilities and job description for the Davenport Parks and Recreation - Davenport Quad Cities Corporate Games Events Coordinator position at City of Davenport AmeriCorps?
*This is a temporary AmeriCorps position through the City of Davenport AmeriCorps Program*
Position Information:
Living Stipend: $3,700
Education Award: $1,565.08
Service Term Dates: May 12, 2025 - August 2, 2025
Position Specifics:
1) Increase engagement of City of Davenport (COD) participants at Quad Cities Corporate Games (QCCG)
· Attend QCCG informational training at beginning of service term (held during first two weeks) and reference informational materials throughout term, asking site supervisor clarifying questions when necessary
· Develop a recruitment proposal for increasing engagement of COD participants
o Research recruitment avenues based on similar events held state and nationwide
o Develop a recruitment proposal, including: goals of the recruitment process (i.e., number of participants), scope of recruitment (i.e., department where recruitment will occur, number of participants needed for a complete event team), recruitment strategies (i.e., social media, free community events), and timeline (i.e., registration deadlines)
o Submit recruitment proposal to site supervisor by May 23, 2025
o Implement recruitment strategies in following weeks of service term, as determined by site supervisor
· Develop content for QCCG COD participant recruitment
o Develop 1 flyer for each QCCG event to increase recruitment of City of Davenport participants at the QCCG
o Submit 1 flyer for each QCCG event to site supervisor by each deadline: two weeks before the event registration deadline
· Attend at least 80% of QCCG events that take place at City of Davenport locations to increase community outreach
o Attend events with site supervisor and/or other DPR staff to increase community outreach by answering questions about DPR free community programming and AmeriCorps
o Help with set up and tear down of event, tables, activities, etc.
2) Develop at least 4 youth sports programs for implementation with a focus on summer programming based on available sports field spaces
· Research communities similar in size and population for summer sports programming options on the internet
· Develop program proposals that include: age appropriateness, group size, space requirements, and supply requirements
· Submit 1 completed program proposal to site supervisor by each deadline: June 13, June 27, July 11, and July 25
· Implement approved programs during following weeks of service, as scheduled by site supervisor
3) Develop a volunteer recruitment strategy to increase community engagement in DPR sports and leagues programming
· Research volunteer recruitment avenues based on similar programs held state and nationwide
· Develop a volunteer recruitment proposal, including: goals of the recruitment process (i.e., number of volunteers), scope of recruitment (i.e., events where recruitment will occur, number of volunteers needed), recruitment strategies (i.e., social media**, free community events), and timeline (i.e., volunteer registration deadlines)
· Submit recruitment proposal to site supervisor by June 6, 2025
· Implement recruitment strategies in following weeks of service term, as determined by site supervisor
Desired Skills/Qualifications:
· Background in the field of sports, education, recreation, human services, or related field
· Experience working with children and families preferred
Eligibility Criteria:
· Certify that they have or will obtain a diploma/GED before the service contract start date
· Be 18 years old at the start of service
· Pass a national service criminal history check prior to first day of service
· Hold one of the following citizenship statuses: US citizen, US national, or Lawful Permanent Resident
