This position is responsible for the development and management of the City of Dearborn’s special events and outreach. This position will be responsible for developing an annual plan for special events, including goals, budget, objectives and follow-up.
- Creates and manages annual special events plan, including mission and goals and marketing for each event. May be responsible for managing social media content pertaining to events.
- Researches and conducts cost/benefit analysis regarding prospective vendors to determine viability. Confirms vendors and other forms of entertainment related to special projects to create standing list.
- Determines budget priorities and builds and manages financial budgets related to special events, including tracking contracts and deposits.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders; coordinates and conducts internal project committee meeting and delegates tasks to committee members.
- Works closely with leadership to ensure events reflect the needs of the community while also identifying and prioritizing social implications of the events on the community.
- Researches new and innovative strategies for cost savings and applies those strategies to special event planning process.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Information Science, Journalism, Public Policy, Marketing, or related field and 3 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid State of Michigan Driver's License
Salary : $77,750
