Position Summary:
The Senior Center Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the Senior Center, fostering a welcoming environment for all patrons. Responsibilities include collaborating with the Senior Center Board to develop programs and activities, organizing fundraisers, aiding in meal services, contributing to budget preparation, representing the center in community engagements, and preparing promotional materials.
Essential Functions:
- Supervises the planning, execution, and assessment of special events, recreational activities, and services. Coordinates resource allocation, including staffing and supplies.
- Manages facility operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, maintenance standards, and local codes.
- Develops and manages program budgets, monitoring expenses and revenues.
- Designs and implements center-based events and programs, such as open houses, festivals, and field trips.
- Acts as a liaison with community organizations and advisory councils, engaging with schools, interest groups, and sponsors to enhance program offerings.
- Seeks financial support through grants and sponsorships, maintaining detailed records of fundraising activities.
- Produces promotional materials for public distribution, enhancing the center's visibility and outreach efforts.
- Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Required: Valid Kansas Driver’s License if operating a City or personal vehicle during City duties.
- Minimum of five years' experience managing a nonprofit of similar size, including expertise in program development, fundraising, and grant writing.
- Preferred: Experience working with the aging population, including understanding the programming and service needs specific to this demographic.
