Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the HRP Swim Coach position includes the following duties:
- Leads the daily operations of the Hunters Ridge Swim Team
- Monitors and organizes swim team participant parent volunteer schedule.
- Ensures exceptional safety standards are maintained.
- Referral Bonus
- Any applicant can refer up to 4 candidates ($50* per candidate). Rehires are not eligible to be referred but are encouraged to refer other candidates. When completing the online application, the applicant must include the first and last name of the person who referred them to apply. The person who referred the candidate does NOT need to be an active employee at the time of the application.
- Family members are NOT eligible to be referred.
- All seasonal employees who are fully onboarded and ready to work by May 1st will receive a $100* bonus
- *All applicable taxes will be deducted from the bonus payments.
- Leads with onsite supervision and communication; assists with scheduling, training, and evaluating the HRP swim program.
- Serves as the main point of contact for swim team operations while on-site at aquatics facilities.
- Assesses the abilities of each swimmer and provides them with appropriate instruction and competitive event assignments.
- Develops the practice workout regiments to be used for each skill level; instructs swimmers in the workout directly or oversees the assistant coach(es) in their delivery.
- Provides effective and timely communication to swimmers and families regarding practices, swim meets, and team events.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with swimmers and their parent/guardians; encourages parent/guardian involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
- Maintains all necessary documentation for business, operations, program, and staffing under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor
- Organizes swim team roster; assists with registration; prepares and maintains records and reports.
- Coordinates with Recreation Supervisor to schedule swim meets; ensures all necessary supplies are available and functioning including but not limited to timing devices and equipment, and heat sheets.
- **Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required.

Licensure Or Certification Requirements
- Current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer First Aid, and Administering Emergency Oxygen certificate, or ability to obtain before employment required.
- American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification is required.
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard, or a nationally recognized equivalent, certificate, preferred.
- Valid and current Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driver's abstract to meet criteria for insurability established by the City of Gahanna
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the swim team, aquatic programs, and services and make recommendations on the modification of existing programs.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety in all aquatics operations, always adhering to industry standards.
- Maintains the facility in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor
Knowledge Of
- Principles and practices used in aquatics operations, including water chemistry, chemical application, pump & filtration, etc.

- The employee is subject to inside and outside environment conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.
