This position performs intermediate semiskilled work in the operation of heavy motorized refuse collection equipment. Work is performed under moderate supervision and may supervised subordinate operators and collectors. The following job functions are typical for a position of this nature. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each function satisfactorily. Other job functions and duties may be required as assigned. Percentages for each function are subject to fluctuations
Operate automatic refuse collection truck (one-armed bandits); Operates standard refuse collection truck; Operates flatbed truck with boom; Operates dump style flatbed truck; When not operating heavy equipment, assists refuse collectors in manual collection as needed | 90% |
Services and makes minor repairs and adjustments on equipment; Able to perform pre/post trip DOT/COG inspections on the vehicle; Ensures all safety equipment is located in/on the vehicle. | 10% |
- General knowledge of the principles and practices of operating and servicing trucks and related medium-duty refuse collection equipment

- Possession of a valid CDL Class A or B license
1. The physical activity of this position includes:
