General Statement of Duties/Distinguished Features of the Class
Employee is responsible for providing customer service and operational support to customers and staff at Goldsboro Event Center.
Essential Duties and Tasks
- Greet and assess needs of customers upon entry to facility.
- Assist Event Center Staff with planning and execution of special events, including set-up, break-down, operations, bartending.
- Handle operational and administrative tasks at Goldsboro Event Center to keep work area organized.
- Serve as knowledgeable point of contact for sales at venue, in-person and over the telephone.
- Assist customers by explaining space configurations, seating choices, and pricing.
- Take customers' information, perform data entry into the system and ensure accuracy of information.
- Provide customers with pertinent information regarding their upcoming event/rental.
- Reliably handle cash and credit sales; reconcile balance at end of shift.
- Assist with marketing and promotional tasks, including printing and labeling letters and postcards, distributing posters, etc.
- Track and maintain inventory of concessions and organization of concessions storage area.
- Organize and maintain lobby and front of house materials and supplies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers.
- Knowledge of best practices concerning event center and concessions operations.
- General knowledge of accounting procedures related to concessions sales.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel and social media apps.
- Good organization skills.
Physical Requirements/Special Requirements
Physical Requirements
Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, to operate a computer terminal, do extensive reading and to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. Some positions may be required to take and transcribe dictation and minutes.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required. Must be computer literate with skills in MS Word, Excel applications and Social Media. Must possess a valid NC driver's license.
