- Limited Hours: Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12 month period.
- Pension System: Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city’s pension system.

The award-winning Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is looking for enthusiastic and skilled individuals to join our team as Camp Joy Program Instructors. This is a unique opportunity to provide leadership, supervision, and inspiration in a recreation program for campers with disabilities, ensuring an enriching and safe environment.
About the Role:As a Camp Joy Program Instructor, you will:
- Lead and supervise campers, volunteers, and other staff during activities.
- Plan, organize, and execute daily recreational activities for campers.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers, responding effectively in emergency situations.
- Drive vans to and from camp as required.
- Be a role model and enforce camp rules to maintain a positive atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop engaging activity plans to utilize free cabin time.
- Maintain knowledge of each camper’s medical history and essential information.
- Oversee group schedules and ensure timely participation in all activities.
- Communicate rules and regulations to campers and enforce discipline as needed.
- Participate in daily activities, including swimming with your group.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings.
The Job is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license.
- At least 2 years of experience working with persons with disabilities.
- At least 1 year of summer camp experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED (or ability to obtain prior to the camp season).
- Behavior intervention training.
