The City of Greer is seeking a Permits Clerk in the Building and Development Standards Department. This position performs clerical and administrative duties for the Building and Development Standards department.
Responsibilities: Performs administrative duties for Building Inspections and Code Enforcement, which involves coordinating the permitting process by acting as the liaison between the Building and Development Standards Department and Finance Department, Records inspection request daily, Coordinates and routes applications between the divisions of the department, Reviews permit applications for accuracy and approves in a timely manner, typing correspondence, maintaining permit files and logs, scheduling and coordinating appointments, and performing general office duties as needed; Acts as point of contact for the department, which involves assisting the general public in person and over the telephone with questions, requirements and complaints regarding the various permits that are issued by the Department; Assist Building Official with phone calls, meetings, forms, reports, etc.; Assist Building Inspectors with customer needs, phone calls, CO’s, inspection request, etc.; Assist Code Enforcement Officer with mailing property violation notices to the owners and tenants; Logs in plans and assists with communication between architects and Building Official; Issues Certificate of Occupancies Keeps up with minimum code requirements to assist with plan review of applications and works closely with LLR regarding licensure requirements for contractors; Attend training as required; Performs related duties as required.
Job Requirements: High School Diploma/GED and five years of experience in administrative or clerical experience within the building codes field; or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Experience in Word and Excel necessary; Must obtain Permit Tec Certification through ICC within two (2) years of hire. Must have a valid state issued driver’s license.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; additional hours as scheduled.
Salary: Minimum salary $43,150; dependent on experience
