Internship Overview
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.Program Duration: June 2, 2025 - August 8, 2025
Rate of Pay:
Undergraduate Students: $16.24 per hourGraduate Students: $20.58 per hour
Internships are non-exempt positions. Summer interns will not work more than forty (40) hours in an administrative work week.
As a Fire Department Intern, you will:
- Work on enhancing recruitment efforts by creating engaging social media content and campaigns.
- Develop marketing videos to highlight the career path of a firefighter or paramedic with the City of Hampton.
- Design and produce printed materials to solicit interest and attract candidates.
You’ll gain experience in:
- Understanding and utilizing various social media platforms for targeted outreach and recruitment.
- Producing professional-quality marketing videos tailored for recruitment purposes.
- Designing and creating effective printed materials to support recruitment initiatives.
Department Final Project: Interns will work on a department-specific project designed to improve or enhance a City service. This project will be presented at a culminating ceremony attended by City leaders, highlighting the intern’s contributions and insights gained throughout the program.
RequirementsCurrent Student or Recent Graduate: Interns must be enrolled as a rising senior or a recent college graduate (2024 or 2025) with a degree or current student studying Marketing & Communications or a related field from an accredited college/university. Transcripts are required as a supplement to this application.
GPA: 3.0 or higher.
