Internship Overview
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Requires work during variable hours to include evenings, weekends and holidays for events.Program Duration: June 2, 2025 - August 8, 2025
Rate of Pay:
Undergraduate Students: $16.24 per hourGraduate Students: $20.58 per hour
Internships are non-exempt positions. Summer interns will not work more than forty (40) hours in an administrative work week.
As an American Theatre Intern, you will:
- Support on-site event production by assisting with lighting plots, sound mixing, stage setup, and show advancement.
- Coordinate event logistics, including staffing levels, customer service, and show setup.
- Assist in advancing shows by working with performers, vendors, and event organizers.
You will gain experience in:
- Technical skills in lighting, sound, and stage management
- Back-of-house operations.
- Learning fundamentals of creating and designing lighting plots.
Department Final Project: Interns will work on a department-specific project designed to improve or enhance a City service. This project will be presented at a culminating ceremony attended by City leaders, highlighting the intern’s contributions and insights gained throughout the program.
RequirementsCurrent Student, Recent Graduate or Graduate Student: Interns must be currently enrolled as a rising college junior, rising college senior, or a recent college graduate (2024 or 2025) OR a current graduate student studying Performing Arts, Stage Production, Arts Administration, or a related field from an accredited college/university and be in good academic standing. Transcripts are required as a supplement to this application.
GPA: 3.0 or higher.
