The City of Hayden, a growing community with a population nearing 16,000, is nestled in scenic Northern Idaho on the timbered and sloping shores of Hayden Lake. Once known as "Hayden Village", the City’s rich history began with its official incorporation on June 27, 1955. Today, Hayden citizens enjoy a quality of life that offers them a sense of community and some of the best recreational opportunities in Idaho with all of the amenities of a larger city close at hand.
This position reports to the City Administrator and exercises independent judgment and initiative to manage the City’s Finance Department under general direction from the City Administrator and Mayor and Council. The individual in this role serves as the City’s Treasurer and custodian of all moneys belonging to the City. This position is responsible for the City’s budgeting, financial planning, accounting, auditing and related financial operations, supervises staff involved in financial operations and accounting functions, and performs related work as required. Competitive candidates will possess:
- College degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field;
- Five (5) years financial management experience in a public or government organization; and
- Minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory position; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
