GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Perform administrative supervisory and professional work in coordinating various Summer Sports Programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Regular attendance is required to perform the duties of this position.
- Assists with recruitment and hiring of staff
- Publicize program beginning dates and recruit players and coaches through various types of hard and soft media.
- Maintain harmony and resolve grievances among workers and participants; Perform or assist subordinates in performing duties.
- Organize teams and develop playing schedules for specified league time period.
- Provide training for seasonal staff of the program.
- Maintain related records for the Summer Sports Programs including youth and adult programs.
- Manages summer sports staff in the delivery of quality instructions.
- Prepare weekly work schedules for referees to insure adequate coverage of games. Assist Summer Sports Program Coordinator with the preparation of weekly schedule for seasonal staff.
- Manage and supervise sports facilities during scheduled programs to include crowd control and program participant supervision.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from High School or GED required. Supervisory experience required.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of sports philosophy, planning and administration. Knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operation and techniques used in a comprehensive community recreation sports program. Skill in operation of listed equipment and tools; Skill in First Aid and CPR required. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, participants, and the general public. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to give and understand oral instructors. Ability to develop, coordinate and direct various activities involved in a community recreation sports program.
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS
Valid State issued Driver’s License preferred. Phone or reliable phone contact.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Basketball equipment, scoreboard, score clock, soccer equipment, football equipment, tennis equipment, volleyball equipment and various other sports related tools and equipment.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Work under the general supervision of the Summer Sports Program Coordinator.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervise 35 - 40 seasonal sports staff. Assist with supervision of independent contractors assigned to summer sports program.
