The City of Houston's Department of Housing and Community Development (HCDD) seeks to create a city in which every resident has an affordable home in a community where they can thrive. Partnering with non-profit, governmental, and local entities, HCDD seeks to strengthen Houston's neighborhoods, provide true housing choice and execute the Mayor's vision for One Houston with complete communities throughout.
To achieve this vision, HCDD is seeking an Administrative Coordinator to join its team. In this position, you will perform varied professional administrative coordinator functions in the research, development, interpretation, and implementation of the department’s operations. Ensure adherence to City policies and support Management decisions and goals in a positive manner. You will be working with multiple programs, including but not limited to: Disaster Recovery, COVID-19, and Entitlement.
Key Responsibilities
Supports and participates in economic development and public services projects by facilitating necessary administrative operations, such as:
WORKING CONDITIONS
There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
Minimum Experience Requirements
Five years of administrative experience is required.
Professional administrative experience may be substituted for the education requirement above, on a year-for-year basis.
Minimum License Requirements
None.

Key Responsibilities
Supports and participates in economic development and public services projects by facilitating necessary administrative operations, such as:
- Interprets and disseminates standard operating procedures.
- Provides guidance to department staff in various activities necessary to attain operational goals.
- Composes correspondence: prepares drafts on various division matters and edits material as required.
- Prepares and analyze the project budget revisions; manages expenditures and monitors line-item balances.
- Responds to written and telephone inquiries, request, and complaints from the general public.
- Coordinates preparation of reports on various functions performed by the Public Services division.
- Represents the Public Services division at designated meetings.
- Coordinates as needed in producing public information activities, including visual presentations.
- Prepares budgets, reports, presentations, and recommendations for all projects. Will require the use of Microsoft Excel and AdobePro.
- Writes summaries, reports, and correspondence for both internal and external use.
- Researches complex issues as they relate to housing and community development funded projects
