DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Houston Public Works Department is seeking candidates who can perform the following duties:
- Assist the Assistant Director for Surface Water and Groundwater Plants with daily paperwork, organizational charts, research on chemical contracts, the annual budget for plants, and budget revisions.
- Manage purchase requisitions for surface water and groundwater procurement requests.
- Ensures effective coordination and integration of departmental responsibilities to meet goals and objectives.
- Manage tasks related to the purchase requisitions, prepare PRFs for training programs dedicated to the operations and maintenance staff of both surface water and groundwater departments, tracking information, and coordinating the flow of critical information within the department.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable; the individual has some discretion about walking, standing, etc.
This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three years of administrative experience are required.
Professional administrative experience may be substituted for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in purchasing and researching contracts.
