- Reviews, routes and issues all permit and development applications which includes verification of licensed contractor and a City privilege license, when applicable
- Works with and assists owners, citizens, contractors, developers and/or city staff to secure compliance with application requirements for a prompt and accurate review
- Provides owners, citizens, contractors, developers and/or City staff with guidance, technical assistance, complaints and problem solving throughout the permit and development review process
- Receives inquiries regarding the status of permit and development applications by telephone, computer and/or in person; furnishes the requested information and/or refers request to the appropriate staff members(s)
- Assists with H.T.E./Naviline issues associated with ePlan, Planning & Engineering and Building Permit modules. In addition, assists City staff, contractors, and surveyors/engineers in utilizing these programs.
- Maintains and prepares necessary records and reports
- Computes appropriate fees; receives and processes permit payments, makes deposits; processes daily money reports
- Schedules/logs all inspections requests. Assists in the scheduling of inspections when Inspectors are absent
- Reviews Development Plans/Building Permits for address confirmation and assignment as part of the development review process. Scans Development Plans to send to address recipients
- Scans documents and ensures they are filed in the appropriate location
- Ensures that inspections performed daily are logged into the computer system
- Receives calls and callers for the department and ascertains nature of business, assists callers or directs to appropriate authority for disposition.
- Performs related tasks as required.

The salary posted is the full salary range for this position. The starting salary is expected to be in the range of $35,553.47 - $46,219.52 depending on qualifications
Thorough knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and secretarial techniques; thorough knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic; thorough knowledge of the organization and functions of the department and of general administrative policies and practices for the permitting and development application processes; ability to keep office records and to prepare accurate reports from file sources; ability to perform and organize work independently; ability to prepare effective correspondence on routine matters and to perform routine office management details without referral to supervisor; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.Equal Employment Opportunity
