The City of Kettering’s Parks Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill Temporary Part-Time Assistant Facility Coordinator positions for the Kettering Ice Arena. These positions are responsible for the operations and management of the Kettering Ice Arena in the absence of the Arena Facility Coordinator.
Compensation: Pay range is $12.30 to $14.55 per hour. Entry rate is contingent upon candidate’s related skills knowledge and abilities. These Temporary Part-Time Assistant Facility Coordinator positions will be permitted to work up to 28 hours per week year-round.
EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative Only)
Supervises the Kettering Ice Arena in the absence of the Arena Facility Coordinator;
Maintains accurate records and reports (attendance, incident, in-service hours, daily and monthly maintenance logs);
Opens, closes and secures the Kettering Ice Arena in the absence of the Arena Facility Coordinator;
Handles all money;
Assists in the evaluation of Kettering Ice Arena employees;
Assists in the development and supervision of new programs and special events;
Handles, with good judgment, all grievances or disciplinary cases involving Kettering Ice Arena patrons or staff members;
Assists in the maintenance of skates, including sharpening skates and in scheduling Iceguards and Cashiers;
Assists Arena Facility Coordinator in the development of a comprehensive in-service training and fitness program;
Assists in covering shifts for Operational Specialists as well as morning maintenance shifts, evening or weekend shifts;
Operates ice resurfacing machine and maintains schedule for rental skates;
Carries out any assigned responsibilities relating to the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department as directed by the Arena Facility Coordinator, Arena Manager, Facility Manager or Director;
Regular and predictable on-site attendance required with attendance at staff meetings as requested;
Must be able to establish effective working relationships and communicate with skaters, instructors, parents, Learn to Skate coordinator, City staff members, volunteers and the general public in a positive manner.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge in ice arena management, methods, materials, tools and practices used in the operation, maintenance and supervision of the Kettering Ice Arena. Ability to maintain records and to prepare reports. Ability to direct and supervise subordinates and to maintain a positive working relationship with them for the efficient operation of the Kettering Ice Arena. Ability to exercise good judgment and function within the broad guidelines with a minimum of direction. Ability to present ideas and recommendations in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing. Must possess valid Ohio Driver’s License. Some experience preferred, but not required. CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification preferred (will be provided if not current) or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
