About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Concession and Event Specialist to join our team at the La Puente Community Foundation. As a key member of our concessions and events team, you will be responsible for supporting the operations of our concessions and events, including food and beverage preparation, inspection, and training of less experienced staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and sell menu items to guests while adhering to standard recipes, menus, and methods of food and beverage preparation.
- Process payments using a computerized cashiering system and ensure health department protocols are maintained.
- Assist with ordering, deliveries, inventory, stocking, and tracking of supplies, maintaining order and cleanliness of kitchen and storage areas.
- Support the Concession and Event Supervisor by training and providing direction to concession and event service staff in recipes, time-motion techniques, and safety and sanitation procedures.
Requirements
- High school graduation or G.E.D. equivalent and six months to one year of increasingly responsible restaurant, quick service food, or customer service work.
- Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license, acceptable driving record, and proof of auto insurance in compliance with the City's Vehicle Insurance Policy standards.
- Able to complete Food Handlers certification training within six months of assignment to the classification, as required.
- Able to work extended hours to attend City functions and meetings.
Work Environment
This is an at-will position that is not eligible to participate in any benefit programs of the City, except those mandated by federal or state law. Part-time employees do not participate in Social Security but instead are enrolled in the Public Agency Retirement Services (PARS) - Alternate Retirement 457 Plan. Part-time employees receive 40 hours of sick leave per calendar year.
