What are the responsibilities and job description for the LDOT Laborer II February 2025 position at City of Lancaster, OH?
The City of Lancaster is searching for a Laborer II to work in the Lancaster Department of Transportation (LDOT) department.
This position requires accomplishment of heavy manual work pertinent to the maintenance and repair of the streets, alleys and highways within the City of Lancaster and various other assignments associated with routine departmental activities. This is a semi-skilled position and all work is subject to in-progress and final inspection by the Supervisor. This position receives supervision from the Supervisor, Equipment Operator II, Equipment Operator and a Laborer III.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Locates gravesites according to section, lot and grave numbers and marks off area to be excavated.
Assists in laying out grave.
Prepares gravesites for interments (specifics include position casket-lowering devise, preparing area for the burial service).
Backfills graves, re-sods and seeds area. Prepares foundations for monument placement.
Performs heavy manual work assisting in all maintenance and repairs of the streets, alleys, and highways within the City of Lancaster.
Operates mowing tractors, dump trucks, spreader boxes, levels asphalt and snow removal equipment.
Inspects and cleans storm sewers.
Repairs guardrails.
Assists with sign installations.
Performs general maintenance in and around the Department of Transportation grounds and buildings.
Participates in training activities and performs work as directed to acquire job skills and knowledge required for the Department of Transportation.
Subject to emergency call-in, overtime and night shift work as required.
Cleans equipment and tools as directed.
This position requires knowledge and use of a variety of hand tools and powered equipment associated with the job duties described.
Performs all work in accordance with Safety Procedures and Policies.
Performs other related duties as related to the essential functions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent.
A minimum of a valid State of Ohio class B Commercial Drivers License must be maintained during employment and be insurable under the City’s Liability Policy to operate City equipment and vehicles.
Must be physically able to work in all types of weather, climate and at night.
Must be physically able to perform heavy manual work.
