What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Summer Outreach Temp (Professional/Technical Worker) position at City of Lincoln/Lancaster County?
These are Summer Seasonal Positions.
Hours: This position will primarily be scheduled for work during the time frame of 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. May include some evenings until 8:00 pm. Hours may vary. These are temporary positions that will be scheduled between May 8 and August 13, 2025, primarily between May 27 and July 31, with specific start and end dates to be determined by scheduling needs. Positions are not eligible for benefits.
Promotes Lincoln City Libraries Summer Reading Program with youth throughout the City of Lincoln and Lancaster County. Travel to scheduled sites, read books, conduct crafts, distribute Summer Reading Program materials, register youth for the Summer Reading Program, check out materials at designated sites. May lead book groups for youth and / or teens.Required: Ability to lift and handle materials in canvas book bags that may weigh up to 40 pounds. Ability to provide own transportation to multiple sites throughout the City of Lincoln and Lancaster County each day (mileage for use of a personal vehicle will be reimbursed; other means of transportation will not be reimbursed).
Desired: Experience providing storytelling to Preschool-age to Middle School-age youth, experience working with and planning programming for groups of Preschool-age to Middle school-age youth, and experience providing customer service.
