The City of Loganville is seeking a full time Wastewater Collections Supervisor in the Sewer Department. Work involves being responsible for the operations of the wastewater collection system meeting all state and federal regulations throughout the transfer process of wastewater to the City’s wastewater facility. The work consists of responding to emergency calls, as well as supervising the work crews of skilled and unskilled laborers and equipment operators engaged in utilities maintenance activities. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Department Director.
Major Duties:
- Oversees employees performing wastewater field maintenance, and cleaning and maintaining sewer manholes.
- Operates light and heavy equipment when necessary.
- Provides preventative and corrective maintenance on Lift Stations with the ability to troubleshoot issues.
- Provides supervisor with daily, weekly, and monthly updates regarding the wastewater collection system.
- Ensures workers follow safe practices and departmental policies and procedures; reviews and evaluates employee performance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge Required by the Position:
- Good knowledge of methods used in wastewater collection maintenance.
- Good knowledge of operation and maintenance of heavy and light equipment related to sewer maintenance.
- Good knowledge of the city wastewater collection system procedures and practices.
- Good knowledge of supervisory practices, and ability to plan, direct, and supervise work to personnel.
- Ability to complete necessary continuing education and certification courses as required by the City.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.
- Ability to respond seven days a week, 24 hours a day for system emergencies as needed.
- Ability to follow established safety rules and departmental policies and procedures.
Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent, desire (3) years of related experience; possession of Wastewater Collections System Operator License. Must possess a valid State of Georgia Class A CDL drivers license or obtain within 12 months of hire. Must have a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record; CPR & First Aid certification is desirable. In addition, must possess an acceptable Criminal Background and pass a Drug Screen.
