What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Intern position at City of Minnetonka?
The primary objective of this position is to contribute to the development and implementation of initiatives that foster a culture of inclusivity within our organization. The DEI Intern will work closely with our Senior DEI Coordinator and Internal Equity Committee to provide support on several projects both internal and external within the city.Research Analysis:
-Conducting research on best practices in DEI.
-Assist in analyzing current diversity metrics and identifying areas for improvement.
Training and Education
-Support the development and delivery of training programs on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
-Collaborate with Senior DEI Coordinator and Internal Equity Committee to create educational resources and materials.
Community Engagement
-Participate in outreach efforts to build partnerships with external organizations that align with our DEI goals.
-Assist in organizing and promoting event that celebrate diversity and raise awareness.
Data Management
-Help maintain accurate records of diversity-related metrics and initiatives.
-Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for leadership.
Collaboration
-Work collaboratively with various departments to integrate DEI principles into organizational policies and practices.
-Participate in DEI team meetings and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.
-Performs other duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position as apparent or assigned.

Education and Experience
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program, preferably with a focus on Human Resources, Sociology, Diversity Studies, OR at least two years of community organizing/engagement experience in lieu of degree.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Salary : $19 - $22
