Overview
The City of Mission is seeking a creative individual with a versatile skillset to join our team in the role of Special Projects Coordinator. This role is responsible for planning, promoting, implementing, and coordinating the City’s annual farmers market, The Mission Market, during the spring and summer, as well as assisting with other events and projects throughout the year. This part-time, benefits eligible position also contributes to a variety of the city’s communications pieces including generating content for the Mission Magazine and the City’s monthly email newsletter, and helping curate content, post on, and monitor and post on all social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, and NextDoor. Key Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge in event planning, communications, including social media management, and creative writing. They will also be a team player who loves to follow trends, be creative, and be willing to work independently. The role does require the right candidate to be able to commit to working hours that include every Thursday evening in the months of June, July, and August until approximately 9:00 p.m. to assist with both set-up and cleanup of the market.
Qualifications
· Must have a valid driver’s license.
· High school diploma or GED.
· Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions including excessive heat.
Experience/Compensation
· One to two years’ related experience and/or training; or associate degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· One to two years' experience related to curating, management of, and monitoring of social media accounts for an active business or agency.
· One to two years’ of demonstrated strong writing, editing, and proof-reading skills.
· One to two years’ experience in event planning.
· Preferred experience is two to three years related experience and/or training; or a bachelor’s degree from a college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree should be in communications, writing, marketing, business or related field.
· The hourly salary range for this position is $18.00-$24.00. Salary commensurate with experience.
- Supplemental Information
· This is a regular part-time position which means a minimum of 30 hours of work per week and is benefits eligible with a full range of employee benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement and more.
· The position offers a flexible work schedule, including the opportunity for remote work, as evening and limited weekend work is required.
