Starting Pay Rate: $15.93-19.91 / hr
Experience Required : Two (2) years administrative support, plus one (1) year dispatch experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Minimum Education Requirements: High School diploma or G.E.D.

Job Summary: The dispatcher answers calls, gathers essential information, and communicates by radio transmissions for security, medical staff, emergency response team, contractors, vendors, and guests in order to send the appropriate response. Provides administrative support and handles a variety of clerical functions for the department and staff.
Essential Job Functions
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:
- Processes incoming and outgoing radio assignments, obtains pertinent information from the reporting party, prioritizes the required department response, and dispatches Security personnel. Coordinates with other departments and guests to obtain information, obtain and send assistance and/or provide essential information to support operations and the needs of the OKC Zoo.
- Monitors and operates security radio, emergency phones, access control, video surveillance management, and alarm systems/panels and answer telephone calls, obtain essential details, and provide call details to allow appropriate response by security department personnel.
- Monitors security personnel response and provide additional support and call law enforcement, emergency medical services (EMS), and/or fire department when required.
- Coordinate bus traffic and other radio transmissions. Track the comings and goings of guests, vendors, and contractors.
- Track current and forecasted weather conditions and communicate with staff. Assist and provide support with the activation of severe weather protocols and the subsequent release.
- Documents radio calls and dispatch actions, and completes security reports in accordance with departmental procedures and guidelines.
- Performs clerical duties, maintaining files and records, order equipment and supplies, and conduct inventory audits.
- Coordinates the issuance and return of departmental equipment and materials. Provides program logistical support.
- Assists with scheduling when needed and performs housekeeping in the office area.
- Trains and provides guidance to officers on dispatch functions.
