The Municipal Court Intern provides crucial support to the Deputy Court Clerks by managing key tasks such as pulling and verifying court dockets, filing and organizing case files, scanning documents for digital records, and performing data entry. This role ensures that all court documentation is accurately maintained and that the Deputy Court Clerks have the assistance needed to facilitate smooth and efficient court operations.
This is a part-time internship position that is three months in duration. The ideal candidate must currently be enrolled in Columbia Basin College studying Criminal Justice or a related program or discipline. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Certain licenses and certificates, if required, may be acquired on the job as agreed upon by the City and the employee. Subject to change based on operational needs.
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. The job involves tasks that are conducted while stationed at a desk using a computer. Additionally, the position requires bending to access filed documents and the ability to lift files weighing up to 20 pounds.

- Pull Docket for Court: Retrieve the court docket and verify that all scheduled cases are included and correctly documented.
- Case Verification: Ensure that all cases listed on the docket are present and accounted for prior to court proceedings.
- Filing Cases: File all cases in the correct order and location within the departmental filing system.
- Scanning for Deputy Court Clerks: Scan all cases that require digital documentation and ensure they are properly scanned.
- Data Entry: Input and manage data related to court cases and departmental records.
- Participate in regular training activities and be active in certification training as directed.
- Maintain accurate records of assigned tasks and work completed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- Courses in Criminal Justice or related field
- A 2.5 GPA or higher
- Currently Enrolled in Columbia Basin College
- Knowledge of Basic Office Practices and Procedures: Understanding of file systems and data recording methods.
- Ability to Maintain Confidentiality: Ensure a high level of confidentiality in handling sensitive information and records.
- Typing Proficiency: Ability to type at a speed of 40 words per minute.
- Follow Directions: Capability to follow complex oral and written instructions accurately.
- Effective Communication: Strong communication skills to interact effectively with court personnel.
- Confidentiality of Records: Ability to maintain the confidentiality of records and proceedings.
- Performance of Essential Functions: Competence in performing the essential functions of the job efficiently and effectively.
