What are the responsibilities and job description for the Municipal Court - Deputy Clerk position at City of Pasco?
Performs a variety of clerical duties such as sorting and distributing incoming mail, receiving, receipting, and posting a variety of payments, setting and monitoring time payment agreements. Distributes reports and court-related information to other agencies and departments to support the functions of the Pasco Municipal Court.

Additional job functions may vary due to department or City needs/requirements. Assignments may include but are not limited to:
- Enters all traffic, criminal and parking citations into the Municipal Court Judicial Information System (JIS).
- Prepares case files and records and schedules court dates in accordance with other data base systems predefined procedures.
- Records in-court proceedings and enters findings at the conclusion of the hearings.
- Maintains accurate logs and records related to proceedings.
- Provides assistance to the judge, attorneys and the public.
- Bilingual DCCs may be required to interpret at the window or on the phone for the non-English speaking public. As directed by the judge the bilingual DCC may serve occasionally as a “qualified” interpreter in court if the certified interpreter is unavailable.
- Serves as technical resource for and assist office staff in day-to-day non-judicial functions of the Pasco Municipal Court.
- Trains staff in the operation of the JIS computer program.
- Keeps current on all changes in JIS.
- Informs and trains staff on JIS procedures and changes.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- May serve as a qualified interpreter to assist in understanding court-related matters.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Two (2) years of general or legal clerical experience.
LICENSES, CERITIFCATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Certain licenses and certificates, if required, may be acquired on the job as agreed upon by the City and employee. Subject to change based on operational needs.
- Valid Washington State driver license
Work is primarily performed in an office environment or courtroom environment. Work is performed while stationed at a desk using a computer, standing at the front counter or bending to file and lift files weighing up to 20 pounds. Duties require providing services to and communicating with angry or hostile individuals on a regular basis.
Salary : $51,626 - $61,963
