What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Assessor position at City of Peoria Township Assessor?
The City of Peoria Township Assessor's office is looking for detail-oriented individual to be part of our team. As part of our team, you will play an essential role in updating and managing computer generated property records for mass appraisal program, valuing properties for property tax assessments, assisting with exemptions, and providing valuable information to the public regarding property tax assessments and exemptions. The ideal candidate must be customer focused, highly organized, and have a strong work ethic.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Assist the Township Assessor.
* Answer phone and assist taxpayers with questions regarding valuation, exemptions, and property tax bill.
* Gather data on properties by conduction physical inspections, measuring structures and taking pictures.
* Maintain records and updates property data in the computer to reflect changes to the properties.
* Reviews building permits, plans and other building construction documents.
* Calculates the market value of various types of properties including new construction, renovations, and additions by review of comparable properties and the local real estate market.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
* Ability to pursue and maintain a CIAO(Certified Illinois Assessing Officer) designation.
* Use of personal insured vehicle for field work with mileage reimbursed.
Job Qualifications:
* Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while working with a team.
* Must adhere to all township and county policies, goals, and objectives.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Must be willing to travel for conferences and training.
* Excellent customer service skills, including discretion, patience, and professionalism.
* Strong Math skills and proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including the use of spreadsheets and math formulas.
* Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* CIAO designation or State Appraisal license preferred but not required.
* Real Estate or appraisal experience preferred but not required.
* Valid drivers license and personal insured vehicle for fieldwork purposes.
Physical Requirements:
* Work is performed indoors and outdoors with extended periods of sitting at a computer.
* Physical effort may be needed to perform work, especially when doing field work.
* Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.

* City of Peoria Township offices are located at 427 W. Main St, Peoria, Illinois 61606. Office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
