ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Public Works Department strives to improve the quality of life in Phoenix through the efficient delivery of outstanding solid waste, fleet, facilities, and energy management services.
The Facilities Planning and Projects Division (FPPD) provides citywide asset, energy, and project management services to more than 860 city-owned and leased facilities encompassing 10.6 million square feet, including the downtown campus, police and fire stations, libraries, service centers, senior centers, parks and pools, recreation centers, cultural facilities, and other city buildings/infrastructure.
The FPPD is looking for a Facilities Projects Planner.
Responsibilities include:
- Scheduling and coordinating preventative maintenance, construction projects, tenant improvements, fire/life safety, and security systems projects.
- Performing field site assessments.
- Overseeing contractor/vendor work.
- Preparing specifications, proposals, and cost estimates.
- Approving invoices, assisting with procurement, reviewing, and providing recommendations for scope.
- Reviewing and drafting plans and blueprints.
- Assuring work remains within budgetary guidelines.
- Scheduling, coordinating, and performing quality inspections of work performed by others.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Proficiency in the use of computers and multiple business software applications including MS Office, MS Outlook, MS Projects, SAP, e-mail, and AutoCAD.
Knowledge of:
- Building codes, ordinances, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
- Methods, practices, tools, and materials used in building, electrical, and HVAC maintenance and repair work.
SALARY
Pay Range: $30.31 to $51.83 per hour.
Hiring Range: $30.31 to $38.68 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field.
- OR Four years of paraprofessional level architectural or engineering experience or construction project management experience.
- Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required occasionally.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
Experience with:
- Monitoring the job site performance of private contractors and overseeing space planning/reconfiguration projects.
- Working with Building codes, International Fire Code Standards, and ADA Requirements.
- Preparing cost estimates based on current labor and material costs.
- Writing/reviewing project scopes of work and associated job proposals.
- Reading blueprints/plans.
- SAP procurement software and AUTO CAD.
- Proficiency in the methods, practices, tools, and materials used in building, electrical, and HVAC maintenance and repair work.
- Project management.
