- Handle rental fees for facilities and meeting rooms for certain assignments

- Flexible and open to covering other recreational assignments
- CPR and First Aid certification
About the Recreation Department
The Recreation Department provides programs and services that enhance the quality of life for the Pittsburg community through the following:
- Youth and Young Adult Services: variety of programs for youth and young adults including job readiness, employment opportunities, wellness, and arts and community.
- Sports: variety of recreation sports leagues, camps and clinics for youth and adults and responsible for field rentals and usage.
- Small World Park: daily operations of children's amusement park that is open weekends only in the spring/fall and four days a week during the summer.
- Aquatics: operation of aquatic center including recreation and lap swim, classes, and programs and rentals.
- Senior Center: various activities and programs for residents, ages 50 to include exercise programs, financial counseling, crafts, special excursions, health management, social events, meals, and wellness.

The City of Pittsburg is a full-service city following the council-manager form of government. We have about 300 full time employees and about 375 employees total (depending on the season).
Examples of Duties
Youth Sports: Keep records and scores for various youth and adult sports activities. Scorekeepers must have a general understanding of the sports programs, such as: softball, basketball and football.
Selection Process

2. Departmental Hiring Interviews: Accepted applicants will be interviewed by Recreation Staff and offered the hourly position if successful.
3. Background/Pre-employment Process: If applicable, candidates will need to complete a background that may consist of livescan fingerprinting, drug screening, TB test, and any other required screening.
4. New Hire Paperwork: After completion of the background/pre-employment process, successful candidates will complete new hire onboarding which includes paperwork, reviewing of applicable policies, and training.
- Police Trainee receives medical, dental, sick leave and retirement benefits while in the Police Academy.
- Other seasonal employees receive sick leave and are limited to 999 hours per fiscal year.
