JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision by the division manager, performs a variety of tasks in the maintenance, repair and operations to various City facilities, to ensure that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, custodial, carpentry, painting, HVAC operations, plumbing, and electrical trades work. Operates a variety of maintenance and cleaning tools and equipment; and performs related work as required. Oversees a small team or crew to assign tasks, ensures the team or crew follows procedures, and ensures tasks are completed efficiently and correctly. Supervises the day-to-day operations of a small team or crew; keeps a close watch on activities and situations; and communicates observations to the division manager. This position leads the team without formal authority over employee performance reviews or disciplinary actions. FACILITIES CREW CHIEF
$37.08-42.12 base pay range
$37.08-47.17 total pay range (with maximum potential longevity)
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Washington State driver's license and ability to maintain a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
- Certified Pool Operators License or the ability to obtain within 1 year of being requested by the Operations Manager
- Boiler Operators License or the ability to obtain within 1 year of being requested by the Operations Manager
- Certified Building Operator Certification or the ability to obtain within 1 year of being in this position
- 10 years of experience working in boiler, HVAC, electrical, janitorial and facility maintenance with 5 or more in a lead role or 2 or more as a Crew Chief Apprentice
- First Aid/CPR certification or must obtain within 1 year of being in this position
- Flagger Training Certification within the first 6 months in this position
- Must be able to pass an FBI fingerprint criminal history background check and successfully complete CJIS Security Awareness training to work in the secured portions of the City's police department
Preferred
- 5 years of experience working in a supervisory or management position in facility maintenance
- Considerable experience using a maintenance management software program
- Attended a WCIA management school or equivalent supervisory training program
- Building Operator Certification (BOC) Level II
- Backflow Assembly Testers (BAT) or equivalent Backflow Certificate
- Journeyman Certification in HVAC
- Journeyman Certification in Electrical
- Journeyman Certification in Plumbing
- GIS and GPS mapping experience

$35.53-40.36 base pay range
$35.53-45.20 total pay range (with maximum potential longevity)

This position may be eligible for the additional compensation listed below. Details can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreement:
- Longevity pay on a graduated schedule starting at 2% after 5 years up to 12% after 25 years

* Teamsters initiation fee is $100 and monthly dues are 2.25 of hourly wage x the base hourly rate rounded to the nearest dollar.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires being onsite working indoors and outdoors during all types of weather; repeated walking, bending, stooping and lifting; the ability to occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.; vision and hearing at level required to perform essential functions (may be corrected); and a full range of motor skills.
