You'll be responsible for:

  • Develop, configure, and support the City's enterprise business applications including Microsoft Office 365, financials, land management, animal center management, sports activity and facility rental management, public record management, and other local government service platforms.
  • Install, manage, and troubleshoot business-class enterprise applications and services.
  • Act as a technical liaison with vendors regarding upgrades, reconfigurations, installation of new systems, and troubleshooting problems. Review proposals recommend vendor selection and monitor vendor's application performance.
  • Manage multiple vendor contracts including the direct monitoring of their work performed; prepare written agreements with vendors, working through the City's purchasing process.
  • Identify opportunities and develop implantation paths to improve the efficiency of business processes.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed in existing applications to meet changing user requirements.
  • Provide assistance and advice to business users in the effective use of applications and information technology.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED

Education and/or Experience: Graduation from college with a Bachelor's degree in computer science and two (2) years of systems and programming experience or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.

Examples Of Acceptable Substitutions

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in computer science and two (2) years of systems and programming experience or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.

Substitutions: A total of six years of experience of systems and programming, may substitute for the Bachelor's degree requirement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of the latest enterprise business class systems; the principles of computer systems, procedures, analysis and design; principles and techniques of programming and programming documentation; database design and structure; data processing, hardware platforms, and enterprise software applications; large network environments and an understanding of network protocols; systems networking, databases, Web development, and user support; systems networking, databases, Web development, and user support; database design in Microsoft SQL and Access; Microsoft .NET, JavaScript, Visual Basic, Excel, Word, Outlook and HTML5. Ability to write reports using Crystal Reports or other database reporting tools; analyze and problem solves and conceptualize solutions; to be self-motivated; prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities: communicate effectively, orally and in writing; read, interpret and apply complex technical publications, manuals and other documents in performance of assigned tasks; train users; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Special Requirements

Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.

  • All dates are subject to change at the discretion of the personnel officer** Candidates that best meet the needs of the department will be selected to continue in the recruitment process and will be required to complete an exam as part of the application process. The exam will be conducted on computer application platforms. Those who successfully pass the exam will be invited to the next stage, which is an interview.

Applications will be screened and the most qualified candidates who best match the needs of the City will be invited to compete further in the examination process. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will remain, candidates, until a final offer is accepted by the candidate who most closely meets the requirements of the City. The City may conclude that none of the candidates, even those who meet the minimum qualifications are appropriate for the position.

Successful Candidates Shall Be Required To

  • Pass a reference check and background verification. References will not be contacted until a mutual interest has been established.
  • Pass a post-offer pre-employment.
  • Provide proof of a valid California driver's license and be insurable.
  • Degree Verification

If hired, candidate will be required to complete a verification form designated by Immigration and Naturalization Service to certify that they are eligible for employment in the United States of America and furnish proof certifying legal authorization to work in the United States.
