NATURE OF WORK
Under supervision of the Assistant Finance Director, this position performs utility billing functions by maintaining current utility records, processing and verifying utility billing data, and responding to customer service requests. This position communicates frequently with the Utility Superintendent and / or Public Works, and provides customer contact and support, resolves complaints, and related work as assigned.
Job Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provides front-line customer service to residents, accepting payments and responding to customer inquiries and complaints regarding utility billings
- Processes utility billing payments by cash, check, electronic withdrawals and credit cards; verifies receipts; prepares deposits and handles insufficient checks and refunds.
- Manages the utility billing system process by maintaining customer utility account records, creating new accounts, and importing / exporting data between systems.
- Processes annual certifications on delinquent utility accounts.
- Responds to requests for information about utility charges for real estate closings, refinancings, or special assessments for utilities.
- Processes changes in property ownership and generates final billings.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
