What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Casework Coordinator - Child Protective Services position at City of Richmond?
The City of Richmond Department of Social Services is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the position of Social Casework Coordinator in the Child Protective Services Program in the Children, Families, and Adult Division. They will assist Family Services Specialists with various duties related to the needs of children and families who are involved with Child Protective Services. The incumbent will also provide transportation, case management, completing safety assessments, and reporting.
- Performs management of case records to ensure compliance with policies and procedures established by the Virginia Department of Social Services.
- Establishes and maintains individual case records, provides limited case management, processes financial assistance, and conducts follow-up interventions as appropriate.
- Prepares and maintains comprehensive and accurate case records.
- Conducts jurisdictional requests for courtesy home visits.
- Conducts follow up safety and well-being assessment visits for Family Assessments and Investigations.
- Assists Family Services Workers with removals and placements to include completing required paperwork and forms.
- Coordinates, monitors and follow-ups with service providers to provide ongoing support of client and program specific goals. Assist clients in understanding goals.
- Transports clients to necessary appointments and assistance clients in keeping appointments.
- Assist with documentation in OASIS.
- Complete mandated internal and external referrals and documents to ensure case record compliance.
- Completes assigned duties adhering to case management standards and governing program regulations.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Considerable knowledge in principles and practices in the human services field, including knowledge of programs, social-economic trends, and behaviors that impact the delivery of human services; and State and local policies and procedures, laws, and regulations.
Demonstrated skills in advocating and counseling; administering individual and family assessments and interpreting results; Interviewing; Case management, including reporting and documenting; Oral/written communication; and conducting forensic interviews.
Demonstrated ability in understanding and interpreting policies, procedures, regulations, and laws; thinking critically; manage time effectively; make sound judgments; problem solve; and analyze, assess, and evaluate data.
LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate's degree in human services, social services, or related field
- Bachelor's degree in human services or social services preferred
- Three years of human services or social casework paraprofessional experience
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in a Human Services related field;
- A valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record or the ability to obtain a Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License within 30 days of hire;
- Knowledge of Child Protective Services;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel);
- Knowledge of casework philosophy, methods and practices;
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
Salary : $53,456 - $78,686
