What You’ll Do:
- Lead & Manage Operations: Oversee public works divisions, including street construction and maintenance, water and wastewater services, natural gas distribution, drainage systems, and fleet operations.
- Develop & Execute Strategic Plans: Create and implement long-term plans for infrastructure improvements, emergency preparedness, and risk management.
- Budget & Capital Project Management: Prepare and administer operating budgets, plan for capital bond issuances, and oversee large-scale city construction and renovation projects.
- Ensure Compliance & Best Practices: Stay up to date with federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring that all city projects meet the highest standards.
- Emergency Response Leadership: Serve as a key decision-maker in emergency preparedness and disaster response efforts.
- Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with city officials, businesses, and community leaders to enhance public works services and infrastructure.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experienced Leader: Proven ability to manage large-scale public works operations, lead teams, and coordinate diverse projects.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure, drainage systems, transportation planning, and regulatory compliance.
- Financial Acumen: Experience with budgeting, procurement, capital improvements, and financial planning for public works projects.
- Strong Communicator & Collaborator: Ability to engage with city officials, contractors, government agencies, and the public to drive successful initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in public works, infrastructure management, or municipal operations.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Valid Texas driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.
- Proficiency in water and wastewater processing, infrastructure planning, and drainage system management.
- Familiarity with state and local agency regulations for compliance and best practices in public works.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Work is performed both in an office setting and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Exposure to dust, dirt, heavy machinery, and hazardous materials may occur.
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment as needed.
