What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civilian Intern position at City of Round Rock?
The Summer Student Internship Program with the City of Round Rock is designed to provide an on-the-job opportunity to gain "real world" work experience in a career-related professional workforce environment. This is an administrative internship program.
The intern will have an opportunity to interact with multiple divisions within the department throughout the internship program. During this time the intern will have an over-arching research project assignment that will incorporate some part of their experience with each division. The intern will be able to work on this project during the duration of the internship, including during "down time" throughout their time at the department.
The Intern will employ their knowledge and skills through the assignment of one of the following projects:
Progression of a Call for Service
Research and outline a hypothetical and/or historical call for service involving multiple divisions with the Department. May reference prior calls for services, standard operating procedures, CALEA guidelines, and interviews with Department personnel.
CALEA Accreditation
Research the impact of CALEA standards on agency effectiveness and efficiency (broadly).
Compare/contrast communities that have different policies (legal examples, media examples).
Critical Incident/Time-sensitive Study
Focus on a recent crime trend, public safety concern, or critical incident (this opportunity may be unpredictable and must be approved by the Internship Coordinator)
Undergraduate Intern
- Be enrolled full-time or a recent graduate of an accredited university or college
- Must be classified as an Undergrad student and provide an unofficial transcript and resume
- Must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0
Graduate Intern
- Be enrolled full-time or a recent graduate of an accredited university or college
- Must be classified as a Graduate student and provide an unofficial transcript and resume
- Must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0
Salary : $15 - $17
