- Coordinates the maintenance and service repair of police vehicle fleet, frequently lifting and carrying basic mechanic tools or equipment weighing 25 pounds.
- Inspects police vehicles daily to determine repair needs.
- Coordinates monthly preventative maintenance on assigned vehicles.
- Replaces police officers' vehicles, as needed.
- Delivers and picks up police vehicles to the Fleet Maintenance and Operations Department for preventative maintenance and/or repair work.
- Initiates, receives and processes vehicle repair forms
- Updates and maintains Fleet database to ensure all records are updated completely, correctly, and in a timely manner.
- Provides daily and monthly reports on vehicle activity.
- Assists other Police Fleet Service Agents to ensure Division goals are met.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
- One (1) year of experience in fleet maintenance, or equivalent relatable experience.
- Valid Class "C" Driver's License.
- Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor convictions, an Open Arrest for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and family violence convictions.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in monitoring, tracking and coordinating the scheduling of vehicle maintenance.

- Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

- Knowledge of basic automotive repair and service procedures and techniques.

- Skill in utilizing personal computers and associated software applications in the completion of assignments.
- Ability to organize and coordinate preventative maintenance and mechanical repair work.
- Ability to diagnose minor mechanical problems and defects.
- Ability to safely deliver and pick up police vehicles for preventative maintenance and/or repair work.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
- Ability to perform all the physical requirements of the position with or without accommodations.
- Working conditions are primarily in a shop environment with exposure to dust, noise and dangerous equipment and materials.
