UTILITY BILLING SPECIALIST
Under the direction of the Utility Billing Supervisor, this position is responsible for the billing of utilities. In absence of Utility Billing Supervisor, the Utility Billing Specialist, will be responsible for making decisions directly related to customer’s utility account(s). Position receives various payments and provides accurate accounting of same; processes applications for initiation, transfer and/or discontinuance of utility services. The Utility Billing Specialist should demonstrate the ability to learn standard computer spreadsheet operation. Also, this position should obtain the ability to perform a volume of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy; make mathematical computations with and without mechanical assistance; maintain calm attitude and accurate work habits during stressful interactions with the public and prepare financial and other records in a systematic, neat, legible manner.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated ability to: learn standard computer spreadsheet operation.
Ability to: perform a volume of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy; make mathematical computations with and without mechanical assistance; maintain calm attitude and accurate work habits during stressful interactions with the public; prepare financial and other records in a systematic, neat, legible manner; make changes accurately; multitask and work in a fast paced environment; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers; work with members of the public in a pleasant and courteous manner; and follow complex instructions.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
High school graduation or its equivalent; experience in customer service; and one year of related experience to include cash handling and reconciliation; computer experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Must be bondable.
