What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ice Skating Coordinator position at City of Shoreview?
Shoreview's skating program consists of two different areas. Preschool children who are at least 4 years old can enroll in "pre-skills" classes. This course introduces preliminary moves in a 30-minute class. The purpose of the class is to develop familiarity, coordination and strength.
Basic skills classes are offered for youth. This part of the program includes Readiness Levels 1 & 2.
Classes are held at the Ramsey County Shoreview Arena located across the street from the City Hall/Community Center Complex.Give work direction to associate skating instructors.
Supervise ice skating lessons; assure safety of students.
Teach basic and intermediate skills to children and adults at all levels when needed.
Plan and organize classes.
Assess skills for readiness to move to next level.
Adjust teaching techniques based on strengths & weaknesses of students.
Make decisions and respond to inquiries and concerns relating to the program, participants, and staff.Skating knowledge and experience is required.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Previous teaching experience is desired.
USFSA instructor registration desired. (Basic Skills, Preliminary Moves, etc.)
CPR/First-Aid certification is desired. Training will be provided.Hours:
Saturday mornings October through February.
2-4 hours each Saturday.
