About the position
Participate in municipal urban forestry and natural resources maintenance including, but not limited to, watering trees, assisting with tree planting, tree pruning and removal, invasive plant species control, maintenance of city gardens, and equipment maintenance.
This is a seasonal, full-time position working an average of 32 hours per week from April - November.Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform physical labor in the context of forestry, including assisting with tree pruning and removal, tree crew duties, and other related tasks.
- Help set-up and maintain safe work zones on city streets and parks.
- Drive light duty trucks pulling trailers.
- Operate brush chipper and chipper truck.
- Water trees with truck and tank trailer.
- Participate in tree planting.
- Remove invasive plants such as buckthorn with manual saws and cutting tools.
- Assist with:
- Maintenance of community gardens.
- Maintenance and installation of native plantings and city park gardens.
- Volunteer events.
- Clean up litter and general maintenance in park and natural areas.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as apparent or as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a valid Class D driver’s license.
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical ability to perform all essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

- Demonstrated cultural competence and comfort with supporting the city's strategic objectives for racial equity.
- Strong interest in natural resources, ecological restoration, or gardening.
