This is professional accounting work in the City’s Billing and Collections department, performing and coordinating varied complex accounting and fiscal operations and may include supervision over other professional and clerical employees engaged in similar activities. Work involves performing highly technical and complex accounting and financial reporting, the preparation, analysis, maintenance, reconciliation and verification of financial records and account receivable records; posting and balancing accounts; the recommendation, development, revision and installation of accounting systems, procedures, and forms; and coordination with other City departments on fiscal matters and reporting requirements. An employee in this class is required to exercise considerable independent professional judgment and initiative in solving problems through the application of a thorough knowledge of the City's financial policies and practices.
Salary: $70,566 - $113,056

To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Possess a valid Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in accounting.
- Have at least two (2) years of professional accounting experience.
- Have extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Be proficient in the use of a personal computer.
- Have extensive experience with financial, accounts receivable and/or cash receipting systems applications, (preferably Oracle eBusiness Suite & Tyler Munis).
- Have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Have experience with financial and statistical report preparation.
- Have superior analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Be able to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Be able to effectively multi-task, meet deadlines and coordinate activities across multi-departmental operations.
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Be able to competently perform detail work involving written or numeric data and to make arithmetical calculations rapidly and accurately.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Are licensed by the State of Florida as a Certified Public Accountant.
- Have extensive knowledge of internal controls and Governmental Accounting Standards Board pronouncements.
- Have experience in municipal government financial accounting.
- Have some supervisory experience.
