The City of Steamboat Springs is hiring a seasonal maintenance worker for the 2025 season! As a Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker, you will play a vital role in maintaining the beauty and functionality of public parks during the peak season. Working under the supervision of park management, you will perform a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic appeal of city parks and amenities. This position offers an opportunity to work outdoors, contribute to community well-being, and gain valuable experience in groundskeeping and landscaping. This position runs from late April or early May through late September or early October.
The City of Steamboat Springs park system consist of over 29 park sites, totaling over 1,000 acres that include six mineral springs, two skate parks, 10 playgrounds, three volleyball courts, and 22 athletic fields.

Serves as an ambassador of the City of Steamboat Springs and upholds City values of Service, Teamwork, Integrity, Well-being, Respect and Compassion, while espousing safety at all times.
The Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker position assists with all aspects of park maintenance including:
- Athletic field maintenance (mowing, edging, trimming, aerating, fertilizing)
- Ballfield maintenance (dragging, chalking, raking, conditioning, repairing divots)
- Irrigation maintenance and repair (hand-digging, trenching, replacing sprinkler heads, fixing lateral breaks)
- Assist with weeding, planting, mulching, edging, and pruning perennial flowerbeds, shrubs, and trees to enhance park landscaping.
- Power washing and graffiti removal of park facilities, including playground equipment, benches, tables, and signage, to ensure cleanliness and functionality.
- Collect litter and debris throughout the park, empty trash receptacles, and maintain cleanliness of park amenities.
- Participate in special projects, such as installing new landscaping features or renovating existing park areas.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools in a safe and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with other team members and communicate effectively with park management to prioritize tasks and address any maintenance issues.
- Provide assistance during park events or activities, including setup, cleanup, and crowd control as needed.
Willingness to learn new skills and contribute to a productive, fun, and safe team environment. Must be prepared for working up to 10 hour days outside and while carrying tools and equipment. Some weekend work will be required on a rotating basis. Must have valid driver’s license. Previous landscape maintenance experience required.

Compensation range is $24.86 - $30.21/hour and placement within the range is dependent upon relevant experience, certifications, and qualifications.
