Summer Camp activities at the City of Sunny Isles Beach may include, but are not limited to, athletic and sports-related events, arts and crafts, music, life skills and field trips.

Position incumbent supports City sponsored programs; provides supervision with related activities, and must maintain effective working relationships with teammates, program participants, children and/or parents, as necessary.
License or Certification

Position incumbent supports City sponsored programs; provides supervision with related activities, and must maintain effective working relationships with teammates, program participants, children and/or parents, as necessary.
- Prepare lesson planning for each day of the program.
- Prepare the program area for the different activities, ensuring safety and security.
- Instruct (or assist) children in the various activities providing guidance and coaching as necessary.
- Track the campers' attendance.
- Administer first aid, if necessary.
- Ensure supervisor is updated orally, or in writing, on all activities and is kept informed of any related issues.
- If required, perform facility maintenance, i.e. garbage disposal or cleaning up.
- Maintain adequate inventory of program or recreational activity supplies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to work well with children.
- Ability to be friendly and courteous at all times when working with the children and staff.
- Ability to be creative with activities for the children.
- Ability to delegate tasks to assistants.
- Ability to take direction from supervisory staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to establish effective working relationship with children, adults and coworkers.
- Ability to work prolong hours outdoors.
- Ability to stand or be physically active for prolong hours.
- High School diploma required. Â
- Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field such as Education, Recreation or Physical Education preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of related experience working with children preferably in a summer camp environment; or any acceptable combination of education and experience.
License or Certification
- CPR and First Aid certification is required and must be obtained before 6/9/2025 and remain valid through 8/8/2025.
- Fingerprints and VECHS background check required.
- Florida Driver's License may be required.
- 40-hour Child Care Certification Preferred
- It is the responsibility of the incumbent to maintain their licenses and/or certifications as a job requirement.
- Must be available to work the camp duration (6/9/2025 - 8/8/2025).
- Must also attend mandatory staff meeting orientation on 6/5/2025 & 6/6/2025, parent orientation on 6/7/2025, and may be required to assist a week prior to start of camp, and week after camp ends. Dates subject to change.Â
