What are the responsibilities and job description for the Communications and Production Manager position at City of Topeka?
The City of Topekas Communications division is seeking a creative and innovative individual to join its team as its Communications and Production Manager. This position is responsible for implementing and managing special projects within the division, including the oversight of all content and production for City4-TV, the Citys social media accounts, and the creation of graphics for external and internal communications.
The Communications and Production Manager serves as the Citys key representative and spokesperson in the absence of the division director and requires the ability to influence and guide others through leadership, effective communication and collaboration.
What you'll do:
- Maintain and manage a social media content calendar and all of the Citys social media accounts, to include Facebook, Instagram, Nextdoor, Twitter, YouTube, and more.
- Produce, direct and televise government meetings.
- Oversee all projects relating to the operations, programming and maintenance of City4-TV.
- Respond to media inquiries and prepare press releases as needed.
The ideal candidate:
- Has demonstrated ability to creatively translate ideas and information into video and content.
- Is a self-starter with an aptitude for technology.
- Has excellent communication skills.
- Is highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in communications, graphic design, journalism or related field is required.
- Must have at least four years of experience in audio-visual production, journalism, or a related field, including experience in writing copy, developing layouts, and making public presentations, reporting editing or media relations.
- Additional education may be substituted for experience. Applicants who possess a Masters degree in a related field must have at least two years of experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas drivers license and city-insurable driving record.
Annual Entry Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 depending on qualifications
