General Purpose of Position
Performs duties associated with Municipal Court functions
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Provides clerical support to the Municipal Court
- Works with attorneys to provide information, process payments and receive filing paperwork
- Accepts payments of fines and processes them according to City policies and procedures
- Prints and files warrant labels
Processes tickets and summons
- Creates paper files for each case
- Files paperwork or distributes to appropriate personnel
Prepares the docket for arraignments and trial sessions
- Assures that the judge has the necessary information
- Creates master case docket sheet for each file
- Prints docket from computer and distributes to the judge, and makes available to the public
Attends court sessions
- Loads files on the computer system
- Works with attorneys, providing necessary information for cases
- Records disposition of each case
- Provides administrative support to the Municipal Court Judge
Manages disposition records and procedures after court and for Traffic Violation Bureau
- Enters dispositions into computer
- Submits records of convictions to the state when required
- Directs the processing of bond money
- Posts fines and fees
- Completes necessary correspondence with attorneys
- Uses appropriate methods in the processing of warrants for no-shows, submitting driver's license suspensions to the state, and placing holds on driver's licenses
- Makes certain that all pertinent filing is done
- Processes guilty pleas and accepts fines
Performs other administrative duties related to departmental functions
- Answers phones, transferring calls to appropriate personnel or taking messages
- Provides phone numbers or other information as needed
- Directs public to appropriate department or person
- Opens departmental mail
- Prepares and sends various reports upon request
- Assists in management of record retention
- Performs other duties as directed
Education and Experience
The person in this position must have a high school diploma or its equivalent
Licenses and Certifications
The person in this position must receive or maintain a valid Missouri driver's license
