Posting Close Date : Applicants must submit their completed application by 02-23-2025 at 11 : 59 p.m. MSTABOUT THIS JOBPosition Specific SummaryThe Traffic Control Technician position at the City of Tucson's Department of Transportation & Mobility designs, repairs, removes, and maintains roadway markings.Work is performed under the supervision of the Engineering Technician Supervisor. This position does not supervise.Duties and Responsibilities
- Designs, replaces and removes painting of street lines and marking. Inspects equipment, sets up barricades, ensures vehicle is operating properly. Loads and unloads supplies, and equipment.
- Distributes glass beads over paint to ensure the longevity of roadway markings and installs reflective raised markers. Removes and disposes of hazardous materials properly. Sets up barricades for work zone safety.
- Lays out pavement markings and pre-plans the worksite by requesting bluestake services. Revises and interprets blueprints maps and instructions. Coordinates with other departments for planning, marks roadways, reads utility marks, and creates and maintains work orders.
- Enters data into department asset tracking system and Arizona Bluestake system. Retrieve forms and reports from the asset tracking system for dissemination to leadership.
- Performs all other duties and tasks as assignedWork ConditionsMonday-Friday as early as 2 : 00 AM. May be required to work on-call shifts to include nights and weekends.All duties and responsibilities listed are subject to change.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation : Six (6) months post high schoolWork Experience : One (1) year of directly related experiencePreferred QualificationsExperience in traffic lines, cross walks and related markingsApplication and Special InstructionsSubmit an updated resume that clearly details your experience directly related to the Traffic Control Technician position.This position requires the successful completion of the following pre-employment requirements :
- 50 lb. Lift Test

- Forklift Operator Certification
- International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Signs and Pavement Markings Technician I Certification
