We are seeking a Business Analyst / Technical project manager with experience in data governance, data modeling, and insurance domain-driven design to support a key project for building data domains within a leading insurance company. This role will focus on analyzing, defining, and structuring data assets, business rules, and domain-specific requirements to enable efficient data management and interoperability across various business functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of insurance processes, data strategies, and regulatory compliance in the insurance sector. Additionally, the candidate has to be experienced in Agile methodology.

Key Responsibilities:
Business & Data Analysis:
- Gather, document, and analyze business and data requirements from stakeholders across architecture, engineering, business Intelligence and individual business units. - Define and standardize data domains, taxonomies, and business rules to ensure consistency and reusability.
- Conduct gap analysis to identify discrepancies in data structures, definitions, and business logic. Work closely with data architects and engineers to translate business needs into structured data models and domain designs.
Data Governance & Quality:
- Collaborate with data governance teams to define data ownership, stewardship, and quality standards. Ensure compliance with insurance regulatory requirements such as NAIC, GDPR, or state-specific data privacy laws.
- Define and track key data quality metrics to ensure reliability and usability.
Stakeholder Management & Communication:
- Act as a liaison between business units, IT, and data teams to align objectives and priorities.
- Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, and requirements gathering sessions.
- Develop documentation, including business process flows, data dictionaries, and domain models.
Project Execution & Support:
- Support project managers in scope definition, backlog grooming, and sprint planning.
- Work with data engineers and developers to validate that domain structures align with business requirements.
- Liaise with UAT team, and assist in data validation activities.
- Maintain Jira board and facilitate relevant functions.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
- 7 years of experience as a Business Analyst in data-driven projects, preferably within the insurance industry.
- Strong knowledge of insurance data across underwriting, claims, policy administration, and actuarial functions.
- Experience with data domain modeling, metadata management, and taxonomy development.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA DMBOK, DCAM).
- Proficiency in SQL and Alteryx preferred. Most teams operate in a BI
- Excellent documentation and communication skills, with experience creating BRDs, FRDs, and data dictionaries.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Preferred:
- Exposure to cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and data lakes.
- Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) tools such as Informatica, Collibra, or Talend.
- Knowledge of general life insurance concepts and as well as regulatory requirements related to data management and reporting.
