What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aspire Instructor position at Clark State College?
The part-time instructor will provide instructional activities which are consistent with the objectives of the Aspire Adult Workforce Readiness Program and Clark State College in general. This may include teaching ESOL/English classes or High School Equivalency/College Readiness classes. The part-time instructor will provide detailed and documented lesson plans for review on a bi-weekly basis in accordance with state of Ohio’s educational standards. The instructor will meet with the Aspire team on a monthly basis to review, discuss, and modify any potential issues and provide feedback that will help strengthen the Aspire program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Education or Adult Education; however, degrees in other fields will be considered with relevant experience.
- Adult education teaching experience preferred, training is provided.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Possess/develop strong understanding of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment used in Aspire
- Ability to plan and implement lessons based on program objectives as well as the needs and abilities of students
- Ability to move about the classroom/lab to check student work and monitor behavior
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students and peers
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to remain patient and flexible with all students and all backgrounds
- Possess excellent human relations skills and serve as a role model for students
- Ability to commit to 1 year of service
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid active Ohio Driver’s License
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, faculty, and students.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is performed in an office-like environment with a minimal amount of noise.
