The position is responsible for attracting, selling, overseeing the development, implementation and coordination of County tourism-related activities, including marketing, advertising, financial reporting and coordinating and overseeing the budget. This position is a public relations representative acting on behalf of the BCC and must maintain a thorough knowledge of the County and have positive working relationships with area hoteliers, members of the TDC, partner organizations and other tourism stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans, implements and manages annual division budget, programs work and operations within the established budget utilizing internal policies as set forth by the BCC
- Plans, implements and manages advertising and marketing programs and related activities designed to promote awareness of, interest in and support of Clay County’s tourism assets, events, historic and agricultural tourism resources for the purpose of generating positive economic growth that benefits stakeholders and residents of Clay County
- Establishes and maintains positive working relations between the TDC, County, municipalities and community leaders, tourism-related businesses and stakeholders, media outlets and related local, State and Federal agencies for the purpose of coordinating, supporting and promoting Clay County tourism
- Works closely with hotels/motels and other County businesses through regular meetings and correspondence
- Meets with the TDC every other month and/or at the discretion of the TDC Chairman to review the use of Tourist Development Tax (TDT) Funding and marketing/promotional strategies; sets agenda and develops recommendations related to tourist development programs
- Manages and tracks Tourism expenditures assuring for accuracy and compliance with Florida Statute 125.0104 and provides quarterly and annual reports on tourist development tax collections, special event activities and economic impact of tourism activities to the TDC and BCC
- Coordinates film and entertainment development in Clay County by serving as Film Commissioner for Clay County with the State of Florida, the main contact person for leads generated through the Governor’s Office of Film & Entertainment within the Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development
- Responds to requests for tourism information to travel writers, editors, group tours, meeting planners and film crews
- Manages the development and preparation of brochures/marketing/advertising and other collateral materials by coordinating their production, printing and distribution
- Attends and coordinates booth displays at various trade fairs, welcome centers and other special events to represent and promote Clay County and its variety of assets.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, Business or Public Administration, Planning, Marketing or related field
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in public or private sector relating to tourism and marketing
- Valid Florida driver’s license with clean driving record
