What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transitional Kindergarten Teacher position at Cle Elum-Roslyn School District?
THIS CONTINUING POSITION IS FOR THE 2025-26 SCHOOL YEAR.
Note: This position is open to qualified CERSD employees from April 16-22, 2025. Applications from out of district will not be considered until April 23rd. Applications will be reviewed as they are received. This position is open until filled.
Definition of Position: The primary duty of an elementary teacher is to plan, prepare and implement a quality classroom program based on state standards and district curriculum. Utilizing engaging and stimulating learning activities while holding high expectations for all students is essential of all classroom teacher. Collaboration with other staff and modeling positive behavior to students is requisite for all staff.
Required Qualifications:
- Possess a Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) for the position being considered
- Ability to pass a state background check
- Strong skills, current training and related background experience in your area of endorsement
- Technical and working knowledge of Washington State learning standards
- Knowledge of and/or experience related to state mandated testing and assessment
- Possess strong student management capabilities
- Knowledge of and ability to assess and design instruction for a classroom of diverse learners (ELL, highly capable, students with disabilities, etc)
Specific Requirement for Transitional Kindergarten Teacher Position:
- Early Childhood Endorsement - preferred
- Experience with early childhood learning
- Experience and willingness to engage in community family partnerships
- Flexibility to serve as an advocate and member of the early learning coalition
- Experience in play based learning and TS Gold and WA kids
- Ability to partner on family engagement, transition planning and curriculum development/alignment with early learning partners within our community and across the state
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare and implement instructional activities consistent with established program and/or curriculum objectives, Washington State Standards and Common Core Standards
- Demonstrate effective teaching practices and utilize appropriate instructional methods and materials suited to the students’ aptitudes and interests, and the nature of the learning activity
- Use multiple student data elements to modify instruction and provide appropriate strategies and interventions to improve student learning
- Establish classroom policies and procedures governing student behavior to ensure a safe and positive learning environment
- Evaluate and record student progress
- Communicate and collaborate with students, parents and/or guardians, administrators and other staff members to provide guidance and evaluation to encourage student achievement
- Willingness to lead and engage in high functioning Professional Learning Communities
- Participate in building and district in-service/training programs
- Use and integrate educationally relevant technology
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal
Required Knowledge and Skill:
- Knowledge of best practices for instructing reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, health fitness and the fine arts
- Ability to use a variety of instructional strategies and methods appropriate to student learning needs, including but not limited to Universal Design Learning (UDL)
- Knowledge of CEL 5D
- Effective and positive student behavior management skills
- Ability to maintain a caring attitude and establish a learning environment that enhances social, emotional and academic achievement for all students
- Ability to establish and maintain positive effective working relationships with all staff, families and community partners
- Ability and skill to problem solve and provide logical solutions in complex situations
- Willingness and ability to remain flexible to change in assignment or situations
- Perform high level of computer proficiency and application of technology
- Ability to ensure equity and access for all students
Terms of Employment/Benefits:
- Affiliation: CEREA
- Contract: 180 CEREA Contract with a 4 day supplemental contract
- Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance through SEBB*
- Sick/Personal Days: up to 12 sick days per school year and up to 3 personal days per year.
- Retirement: Two plan choices available with DRS, Plan 2 and Plan 3.
- Salary: Based off the CEREA Salary Schedule and depending on verified years of experience, clock hours, and education. Salary is currently showing for the 24-25 salary schedule and will be updated once the 25-26 has been confirmed.
Start Date:
- August 26, 2025 with new hire orientation dates provided by June 2025.

Benefits through SEBB is determined by the number of hours an employee is anticipated to work during the school year. Any employee who is scheduled to work 630 hours or more in a school year (September 1 through August 31) is eligible for benefits.
